The Government have recently announced their response to consultations on industry regulation which if passed, will mean agents will be required to adhere to a new code of practice as well as obtain a nationally recognised qualifi cation with at least one member of staff per offi ce having a higher qualifi cation. With so many rogue agents around, and so many new complex legislation having been introduced, this is welcomed news for the industry! As Katherine explains, “For landlords, their rental property is usually their biggest asset after the home in which they live; and for tenants, it’s their home. It must be the right of every landlord and every tenant to have a letting agent who knows what they are doing, is professionally qualifi ed and the money they entrust to their agent is protected.” These announcements demonstrate a very sensible shift towards focusing on the root cause of the issues affecting the sector rather than trying to fi nd legislative solutions to individual problems. We would like to assure you that we here at Andrew Nunn Associates are ARLA members, meaning you and your assets are already protected. In a challenging market, you can be assured you will receive the best service from us.
