Outdoor ENTERTAINING TIPS Outside or inside, a well-dressed dining table is one of the best ways to impress guests and using fresh napkins, table runners and placemats is a great way to bring instant luxury and elegance to a table. Owner of online retail shop, Pastel Lane, Hannah Browne comments: “When choosing your table linens opt for a durable fabric as well as an aesthetically pleasing design, this will make it easy to care for your linens allowing you to enjoy them again.” Pastel Lane have a number of 100% cotton napkins which look great in the garden and can be cleaned in the washing machine – so no need to fear the burger sauce!  British weather changes quicker than you can say ‘summer BBQ!’ Napkin rings are a lovely finishing touch and help to keep napkins in place on a breezy day and Hannah advises that you try mixing and matching complementary napkins and napkin rings. Pantone announced that their colour of the year was Greenery – a vibrant shade and one that Pastel Lane has incorporated into their summer range of tableware. Hannah also adds that sumptuous cushions are a sure-fire way to add style and comfort to garden chairs. “Embrace soft furnishings when entertaining guests outside, they will add life and warmth to a seating area, as they would indoors.” Pastel Lane’s botanical fern designs will complement any garden and come filled with luxury feather fillers - perfect for sinking back and relaxing. In addition, Hannah says you should complement your table dressing efforts with pretty yet practical dishes. Offer sauces in dishes eliminating the need for unsightly jars, bottles and containers on the table. The versatile Mango wood chopping board will provide an impressive base for an antipasti platter or cheese board, and the coordinating tray is ideal for carrying food and drinks from the kitchen. With it’s handy lid, Pastel Lane’s soft-green mustard pot is also ideal for serving sauces and it’s cute bird design will look at home in any garden setting.  “As the sun goes down add ambiance to your soirée with the gentle flicker of candlelight. Tea lights on the table and lanterns hung from trees will create a lovely warm glow; burning citronella candles will also help keep pesky bugs at bay.” The copper effect tray with tea light holders from Pastel Lane, means the candles are less likely to be knocked over and the curved shape of the glass offer lit candles some protection from a gentle breeze.  “Wall lanterns are perfect for a seating area and traditional style shepherds crook and lantern sets look beautiful nestled in garden borders, illuminating pathways or areas of interest”, concludes Hannah.  For more information and to make your summer entertaining a breeze, head to Pastel Lane. www.pastellane.co.uk.
