As the central point of busy family life, your kitchen deserves flooring that can cope with the daily hustle and bustle. However, choosing the right type of flooring for this busy area can be difficult. It’s an area that will see muddy boots, paw prints and a fair few spillages so whichever stone you choose, it needs to be robust and practical. However, if you’re looking to update your kitchen this month, look no further than stone flooring. Unlike many other materials, stone flooring will last a lifetime, so although it may cost a little more, it’s a sound investment. When comparing different designs, we’re often steered by trends – with colour and pattern playing a big part - but it’s worth looking closely at the practical aspects before making that final decision. Even the most refined chef can’t avoid spilling food sometimes or prevent a splash of water from escaping the sink but with stone flooring in your kitchen, it doesn’t matter. Your kitchen is where hygiene matters the most so kitchen flooring that can handle intensive cleaning is an absolute must – and you guessed it, stone flooring can. In terms of design, very pale stone flooring is a great option. Light colours suit most colour schemes but it’s best to be realistic if the outdoors often comes into your kitchen.
